Our weekend

Here's a synopsis, in case the pics don't tell the whole story. My sister Joy and friend Emily arrived on Friday morning. We had an awesome time! It was a great distraction since Doug was with the youth at the Planet Wisdom conference in Houston (which he highly recommends, btw). We spent most of Friday hanging out at home -- everyone took LONG naps in the afternoon. Crawfish jambalaya was on the menu for dinner, a recipe I found while Em was here this summer.

On Saturday, we met families from our community group (w/church) at the Louisiana Children's Museum for Dr. Seuss Day. We got a membership so we'll be making lots of trips in the future. :) The museum is packed full of all kinds of fun for toddlers on up through elementary kids. A highlight was the toddler area where we could rest from chasing the boys and just let them play in the secluded area for 3 and under. Both boys especially loved the train tables and really enjoyed shopping in the kid-size grocery store. We didn't even get to the cafe and let them serve us. :) After eating our sandwiches in the car on our way to Cafe du Monde, we settled down for some hot beignets and drinks in the French Quarter. Before heading home for naps, the girls let me choose a pretty ring at Sterling Silvia as a reminder of our little girl in heaven. That night, we headed to Clearview Mall for dinner at Zea's ... yum! The Trout Lafitte (w/shrimp cream sauce) was absolutely delicious.

Sunday was church and Doug arrived home around 1pm ... with just about a 1/2 hour visit with the girls, Sam and I took them to the airport to catch their flight. The girls decked Doug and I out in Saints shirts but couldn't find ones to fit the boys -- but, all was not lost. A hat and a football were found at the airport for Sam.

  1. Is that a real store where Em was checking out groceries?

  2. Nope, it's in the Louisiana Children's Museum downtown. :) If you ever come for a visit, it's the place to go with kids of any age. :) We got a membership so we'll be making lots of visits.

  5. Michelle, the one of the left is my sister Joy and the other is a sister of the heart. :) Emily is a soccer player on the team that Joy coaches ... that's how we met. Emily spent the summer in N.O. as intern with Doug doing hurricane relief with our church. The boys love her!
