When you live 1200 miles away from your hometown and have acquired a husband and three children, road trips are inevitab

le. This one leaves us away from home for two weeks with five stops along the way. Blogging while on these trips is important since they are jam-packed with fun, family, and friends. We're in Knoxville tonight after riding for 10 hours or so. And, when you're in the car for that long, silly pictures are required. Zach dons his "best birthday face" since today is his 4th birthday, even though it feels like it's over since we celebrated last weekend (post to come). Sam goes for the silly face ... who knows where he gets this stuf

f from? And Eli ... well, he's just cute.
I'm typing in the dark with just the glow of the laptop. Zach is still awake in the bed next to ours, while Sam just fell asleep moments ago. Eli has been out for nearly three hours already. I just realized this is our first hotel stay with three kids. I haven't had time to wonder how it's going to go until today in the car. So far so good. The room has a nice little alcove by the bathroom that fits the packnplay nicely so E can't see us from his crib. We'll see how early he wakes up. The hour time change i

s in our favor on that one. We're at the cheapest motel I could find that had a pool, since we figured we'd need some way to burn some energy before sleep in a strange place. Online reviews said that you couldn't hear the traffic from the highway that runs directly next to the location, but that guest must have been staying on the other side of the property. I may have nightmares about dodging tractor trailers. We all tried the pool, but the water was super cold. I keep forgetting that May isn't summer in most places around the country like in NOLA. It was a fun diversion, but we got out when Sam and Zach couldn't stop shivering. It wetted their appetite for more water fun in Delaware at the big house and at the beach. Praying for some super sunny days.
Oh, yes ... our next stop is Dewey Beach, Delaware where we'll meet my parents and my siblings and their families (minus one) for a week in a
10-bedroom, 10-bath house just a block from the Atlantic Ocean. It's a first to vacation as a family with the Moyer side, so it's a total treat for me ... even though the purpose of our week together is to celebrate Mom and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary (coming up in July).
yeah, you dont swim in May around these parts:) For that matter, a cloudy day in June is sometimes to uncomfortable to swim.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fun adventure!

Even in the hottest part of the summer in VA I didn't understand how kids swim. I almost felt sorry for kids. The best part of swimming for me was being so hot and jumping into the cool water!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, how cool is that place you stayed?!?!?! What awesome family memories!
