Honey

When you hear the word honey, you probably think of what Winnie-the-Pooh loves or that extra special more natural sweetener for your cup of hot tea, BUT we will always remember Honey as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother to our boys. "Honey" was given to this grandmother by her eldest grandchild because "she was sweet like honey". Precious and appropriate. The endearing name alone is a legacy. Honey lived in an assisted living facility up until early August of this year. She, then moved in with Doug's aunt and uncle and spent her last months under their tender loving care. The picture of her and Sam is from our last family visit with her after she moved in with Larry and Margie. Even though I've only known her since becoming a Daspit (she is Doug's paternal grandmother after all), she always made every effort to make us comfortable in her little apartment. She loved hearing the news of our family and was quick to tell me stories of her life as a young mother. We loved to visit her -- especially at holidays -- so we could see the big Christmas tree in the foyer. Sam is her first great-grandchild and he enjoyed remembering through pictures in between our visits.

So, the reason for my post-- last Thursday -- Honey breathed her last on this earth. We believe that she placed her faith in Christ alone and is rejoicing with Him in heaven. Tomorrow, the Daspit family and friends will gather to remember her. We'd appreciate your prayers as we walk through this transition in life without her.
