He's back!

Doug and the rest of the summer trip group arrived last night around 8pm. The boys, Mimie, and I went to the church to meet him. Sam was so excited to see him -- he would make his body all tense and with closed fists and big smile say, "I'm so excited!" Very cute.

Needless to say after we arrived home close to 9pm, it was a challenge to get the boys settled for the night. Even Zach -- who seems to be oblivious to the rest of the world when's he's tired -- had a first of truly having a terrible time getting sleep. Weird--when neither struggled much when he was gone (like last year!). They finally were asleep at 10:30pm and Doug and I could catch up ... until almost 2am!

Today is a busy one ... working with hurricane relief groups this morning, returning the rental vehicle, a quick change at home, and Doug is at a funeral (grandfather of some of our youth) right now. We're expecting the phone to ring any moment to tell us that we can come meet Ruben (Hower) at the hospital. Sam helped me make an ice cream cake for his birthday this morning! (I think that's the 5th one we've made in the last two weeks!) Sam is anxious to see Tucker and Silas and their new baby brother -- Sam's been super sweet to babies lately and enjoys carrying for a stuffed dog -- letting him eat lunch at the chair next to him, and even putting him in timeout for pushing. ;)

Hopefully, we'll be able to stop by the hospital and then to the Howers' house to drop dinner off for the boys and the grandparents Hower who are there to help with the transition ... on the way to the Reillys' house for a cookout and to visit with Damien, Renee, and Orin who arrived on Saturday. Damien and Renee are in the final stages of the application process w/Wycliffe ... they're anxious to share a little about their future ministry in Bible translation.

Nothing like hitting the ground running... more....

Check this link for a pic of Doug guiding his raft down the Natahala River ... looks good, huh? They also rafted the Ocoee but w/professional guides. :)

  2. Damien would be directly involved in Bible translation w/his linguistics experience ... it looks like they'll be stateside...maybe Dallas, NC or another place that I can't remember right now.
