Directly from the reunion, we drove to Tellico Plains, Tennessee (outside of Chattanooga) where we met the rest of Doug's immediate family a mountain getaway at Dixie Dreamin' for four nights. I think it took me at least a day to switch gears from one family to the other, but it worked out well. The boys loved being with their cousins, their beloved Tina and Uncle Rob, and their one and only Mimie. In a month, the Johnsons are leaving for the Philippines for a year missions experience. It was sweet timing and a true pleasure to spend time together before they depart.
We enjoyed all kinds of local attractions: lots of cheese samples at Sweetwater Valley Farmstead and hand-dipped Mayfield Dairy ice cream, picnic lunch at the Sweetwater train depot, The Lost Sea, a day on the Fort Loudon Lake with a rented pontoon boat, a hike through the stream and up the waterfalls near the cabin. All that and still plenty of time to relax in the hot tub, grill-out, and shoot fireworks on the 4th.
Last stop ... Birmingham.
looks like you guys had fun. those boys are so stinkin' cute. thanks for sharing your fun experiances with us.
ReplyDeleteyou are coming through bham?? when ??
ReplyDeleteWHEN?
ReplyDeleteSorry, girls, ... we've already been there and now we're home. We were there last Thurs and Friday (after the 4th). I would have loved to see you guys but frankly didn't have the energy ... nor my boys had the patience. We always evacuate to Bham SOO maybe we'll have to do so this fall ... and the hurricane will go back into the gulf. That's what Christa and I are praying for. ;)
